Mark Bailey -Principal
Principal Mark Bailey begins his 29th year as a FWCS employee. He served the previous two school years as Assistant Principal at Kekionga. This year He will serve as Principal of Kekionga Middle School. Mr. Bailey joined FWCS as a mathematics teacher and football coach at South Side High School in 1992. He was named Head Football Coach in 1999 for the Archers. In 2005 Mr. Bailey moved into administration as Assistant Principal at Snider High School for two years. In 2007 Mr. Bailey returned to South Side High School as assistant principal. In 2011 Mr. Bailey was named Principal of Lane Middle School where he led a turnaround effort leading the struggling school to an "A" school in just three short years. In 2017 Mr. Bailey moved to Kekionga Middle School as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. This year is his second year as  Kekionga Middle School as Principal. Mr. Bailey is excited to return to being a principal and leading the Warrior Tribe!

Trisha Brooks - Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Trisha Brooks begins her 5th year as an FWCS employee. She served the previous school season as an administrative intern at Memorial Park Middle.  In 2008, Mrs. Brooks began her teaching career as a 6-12 English teacher at Churubusco Jr-Sr High School.  In 2016, she joined FWCS as an instructional coach at South Side High School; she also taught English 12 and Mass Media at South Side. In 2019, Mrs. Brooks moved into administration as an intern at Memorial Park Middle School. This is her first year at Kekionga Middle School.  Mrs. Brooks is delighted to join the Warrior Tribe and looks forward to connecting with students, family, and community in the upcoming year.

Lonnie Heck - 6th Grade Assistant Principal

6th grade Assistant Principal Lonnie Heck begins his 6th school year as an FWCS employee. He served the previous three school seasons as the 6th grade Assistant Principal at Kekionga and one school season as an Administrative Intern at Northwood. Mr. Heck began his teaching career as a Spanish level 1-2 teacher at Pike High School in Indianapolis in 2003. He taught in the high school and freshman center. In 2006, he moved to Fort Wayne and became a Spanish teacher at Carroll High School. He taught Spanish levels 1-3 at the freshman center and high school. He became Department Chair of World Languages in 2013. In 2015, Mr. Heck moved into administration with FWCS as an Administrative Intern at Northwood and then began at Kekionga in the 2016-17 school year.

Lashanda Gates - Counselor

School Counselor Lashanda Gates started her career Ivy Tech Community College for two years. She then moved to the high school level where she served for 17 years. Mrs. Gates joined FWCS in 2016 as the Guidance counselor at Kekionga Middle School. Mrs. Gates has been a part of every major school district in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she has gained the knowledge and experience to counsel and serve all students. Mrs. Gates is committed to all families and she values the importance of building relationships with students in guided them to success. Mrs. Gates is committed to the educational process and working with your student here at Kekionga Middle School.

Helen Smekens - Administrative Intern

Helen Smekens is the administrative intern at Kekionga for this year.  She began her time with Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2015 at Snider High School as the Orchestra Director, and Assistant Band Director.  Prior to this, Mrs. Smekens was the Director of Bands at Columbia City High School for seven years.  At Snider High School, Mrs. Smekens became a co-lead teacher in 2017.  She increased enrollment in the orchestra program at Snider by 50% in four years.  Mrs. Smekens is excited to become part of the Warrior Team this year.
