Virtual orientation for incoming 6th graders next school year

Please feel to join us for this informal virtual orientation to find out general information about Kekionga Middle School and the 2021-2022 school year. There will be a question and answer session to address any additional information we may not have covered.

 

 
Parent Zoom Meeting Tuesday March 16 and Wednesday March 17

I will host 2 parent zoom meetings to explain picking classes and to answer any questions you may have about our schedule for next year. During these parent zoom meetings parents can ask questions about how to select classes, what classes are available, and any other schedule questions for next year.

Students begin picking classes during week of March 15th
Students will pick classes beginning March 15th for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. Please see the 2021-2022 course selection option under the resources tab
 
Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony
Kekionga will be hosting a Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony Tuesday November 12th from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. All friends and family who are veterans or active military are welcome to attend and be recognized for the service to our country.  Call Mrs. Mcghee at 467-6600 for more information!
 
Tamika Catchings to Speak at Kekionga August 22nd
 

Tamika Catchings spoke  to Kekionga Girls on August 22nd.  Tamika is a retired professional basketball player who played her entire 15-year career for the Indiana Fever of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Catchings has won a WNBA championshipWNBA Most Valuable Player AwardWNBA Finals MVP Award, five WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards, four Olympic gold medals), and the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award. She has also been selected to ten WNBA All-Star teams, 12 All-WNBA teams, 12 All-Defensive teams and led the league in steals eight times. She is one of 10 women to win an Olympic Gold Medal, an NCAA Championship, and a WNBA Championship. Catchings was voted in by fans as one of the WNBA’s Top 15 Players of All Time.

Mr. Bailey Named Principal for 2019-2020 School Year
Mark Bailey was named Principal at Kekionga Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year. Mr. Bailey enters his third year at Kekionga after serving the past two years as assistant principal and athletic director.  Mr. Bailey was also Principal at Lane Middle School from 2011-2017.  Mr. Bailey has served FWCS for the past 27 years, including 15 as a building level administrator. 
 
Academic Team places at FWCS Academic Team Scrimmage
The Kekionga Academic Team saw its first competition of the year during the FWCS Academic Team Scrimmage.  The Science Team led the way with a 2nd place finish. The Social Studies team finished 4th overall. 
 
Future City Team Captures 4th Place in State
Congratulations to the Kekionga Future City Team who placed 4th in the state at the Indiana Future City Regional competition.  The Kekionga team also won awards for Team Project Management Plan and Best Land Surveying Project. Congratulations to the Warrior Team and Coaches Mrs. Curless and Mrs. Painter!
 
Laser X Trip for Highest Honors and Honors Students
Students who earned Highest Honors (4.0 GPA) and Honors (3.67) GPA will be rewarded with a trip to Laser X on Friday October 27th after school. Students will be bused to Laser X after school and return to Kekionga at 4:45pm. Students must turn in permission slips by Wednesday October 25th. For questions contact Mr. Bailey 467-6611.
 
Picture Day Retake Monday October 9th
Students will receive school pictures Tues and Wed October 3rd and 4th.  Picture Retakes are Monday October 9th. Students who were absent on the original picture day will take a picture retake. Also, students who ordered a picture package and would like their picture retaken may do so at NO additional cost. 
 
Tutoring is available after school for all students.
Please see the schedule below to know when your student’s teacher is available. Tutoring is from 2:25-3:10.

New Administrators named to lead Kekionga
Kekionga will welcome two veteran leaders to our school for the 2017-2018 school year. Matt Schiebel has been named Principal for the Warriors. Mr. Schiebel brings 30 years of experience as an educator, including 15 years as leader serving as Principal at Northwood and Shawnee Middle Schools. Mark Bailey has been named Assistant Principal for the Warriors. Mr. Bailey brings 25 years of experience as an educator, including 13 years as leader serving as Principal at Lane Middle School. Both Mr. Schiebel and Mr. Bailey are proud to work in FWCS.  They are both graduates of FWCS and their children are graduates of Snider and South Side High Schools.
 
FWCS Middle School Physical Nights
FWCS Middle School Physical nights are planned for any current FWCS student who is planning on participating in athletics during the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. August 1 at South Side High School and August 16 at North Side High School from 6:00-7:30 pm. The cost is $15 cash per student.
