Career Academy High School - Cosmetology

COSMETOLOGY

Just imagine walking out of high school with your Indiana State Board of Cos­metology License! You can start enjoying this creative and flexible career as a cosmetologist or barber with successful completion of this 2-year program. Beginning immediately after 10th grade, students will spend 20 days that summer to begin accumulating the 1500 hours required before taking the exam for their license upon graduation.

COLLEGE CREDIT & CERTIFICATIONS

Students have the opportunity to earn college credits through Vincennes University and industry certifications like OHSA 10 and the Indiana State Board of Cosmetology License.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

In this program, students will learn basic and advanced practical skills including roller control, quick styling, shampooing, hair coloring, permanent waving, facials, bacteriology, sanitation, and manicuring business and personal ethics. Students will also study anatomy, physiology, professionalism, and salon management in relation to cosmetology.  Students will complete a summer session of 20 days for 8 hours a day and a total of 1500 classroom hours required by the state to begin certification.
