Local business and community leaders, as well as FWCS employees, will participate in the fifth annual Seeing is Believing Tour, visiting several FWCS Career Academy programs on Wednesday, May 2. The tour gives participants an opportunity to learn more about the educational programs offered at Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. is once again partnering with Fort Wayne Community Schools to provide an in-depth look into what makes FWCS the school system of choice for thousands of families. While visiting the FWCS Career Academy at Anthis, participants will learn more about the IT Academy and the automotive, culinary arts and welding programs. The group will also visit the Parkview Education Center, 1919 Cook Road, which houses the Career Academy’s health science programs.

“We are excited to show our business and community partners the high level career programs we offer students while they are still in high school,” FWCS Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. “Students complete these programs with college credit and, often, certification in their chosen specialty, which gives them a head-start in their career. These programs are not the vocational-technical programs of yesterday; they are highly skilled professions in high-demand areas of the workforce.”

While the Career Academy is operated by Fort Wayne Community Schools, students from any northeast Indiana high school – public, private or homeschool – can attend. For additional information, visit or call 260.467.1010.

Excursion Trailways is providing bus transportation for the Seeing is Believing. Participants will gather at the Bill C. Anthis Center, 1200 S. Barr St., at 9:15 a.m. to board the bus and visit the Parkview Education Center. They will then return to the Bill C. Anthis Center to see additional programs and enjoy lunch prepared and served by Culinary Arts students.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
