Fort Wayne Community Schools PTA members, administrators and teachers join together to celebrate PTA Founder's Day on Feb. 15 at Northrop High School, 7001 Coldwater Road. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m. National PTA was founded on February 17, 1897. Founders Day is a reminder of the substantial role that PTA has played locally, regionally and nationally in supporting parent involvement and working on behalf of all children and families. It's a time to reflect and take pride in the PTA's many accomplishments, and to renew members' commitment to be powerful voices for all children, a relevant resource for parents and a strong advocate for public educations. Each year in Fort Wayne, a different feeder area hosts this dinner to celebrate what PTA does in our schools and to thank the PTA leaders for their support. At this time, 31 of the district's schools will have representatives participating. This year's dinner is being organized by the Northrop High School PTSA. Guests include Indiana PTA President Dee Jones, Indiana PTA immediate past President Marilyn Jones, Indiana PTA Vice President Tina Hartman (from Fort Wayne), Fort Wayne Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson, and members of her team. Dr. Robinson will be the keynote speaker for this event. Media are welcome.
