Free transportation will be offered to families to attend registration Monday, Aug. 6, at Arlington and Northcrest elementary schools. Bus rides are available for adults and school-age children, ages 5 and up. For Arlington families, a bus will leave CANI Head Start, 2107 S. Hanna St., at 2 p.m. At the school, families will meet with teachers and complete registration. For Northcrest families, a bus will leave Bunche Early Childhood Center, 1111 Greene St., at 2 p.m. When the registration events are complete, the buses will return the families to their original location. Registration for the 2007-08 school year at all Fort Wayne Community Schools buildings will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, and from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6. Students must register at the school they will attend, even if they attended that school last year.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
