Fort Wayne Community Schools recently mailed handbooks to the parents of the district's nearly 32,000 students. The Student Rights and Responsibilities & Behavior Code outlines the district's disciplinary procedures and the range of consequences for each rule violation. The discipline code was developed with input from the U.S. Department of Justice and implemented across the district in 1996. The Student-Parent Guide provides information ranging from meal prices to immunizations as well as school delay and closing procedures. Copies of each handbook are provided to the Allen County Public Library, which makes them available in the reference section of the library branches located within the FWCS boundaries. Both books are also posted in printable versions on the FWCS Web site at A link can be found on the Parents or Students drop-down menu.
