Filling out a paper application for jobs at Fort Wayne Community Schools will no longer be necessary under a new online application system being launched Monday, Aug. 27. The SearchSoft application system will allow applicants to apply for positions online. Under the new system, applicants can apply for multiple jobs with one application and complete the application from home, public libraries, or at the Grile Administration Center, 1200 South Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802. The system will be available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The application does not have to be completed at one time, and the system can remind applicants if their application is not completed. Current employees will also use this system to apply for transfers within the district. Once this system is launched, FWCS will no longer accept paper applications. "If we expect to hire the best, we need to provide the tools that allow the best to easily access our district's job postings," Human Resources Director Nancy Schram said. The system also enables the Human Resources Department to be more effective in sorting and searching applications based on qualifications and current open positions; it eliminates storage of paper applications, as the department moves to a more paperless system. Response letters can immediately be sent electronically to applicants, providing better customer service. Principals may review all candidates who are eligible to be considered for their position(s) and will have immediate access to candidates' credentials and application materials. Applications for classified positions (non-teaching positions) can be found at or at and clicking on Employment Opportunities under the About FWCS menu. Teaching and administrative positions will be added to the system soon. "We are excited about the new system and look forward to a more effective process for everyone," Schram said.
