WBCL radio is taking on Fort Wayne Community Schools' PTA Clothing Bank as its community project by hosting a daylong clothing drive Oct. 12. The clothing bank, located in Memorial Baptist Church at 2900 N. Anthony Blvd., serves FWCS students who need clothes because of poverty or a disaster, such as a fire. Students are referred to the clothing back and are allowed to pick out pants, shirts, coats, shoes and personal hygiene products as they are available. Last year, the clothing bank helped 1,955 children. From 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Walmart Supercenter at Coldwater Crossing, the station will collect new and gently used clothing for the clothing bank. Items needed: - New underwear (size 6 to plus sizes) - Personal hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, tampons, etc.) - Cold weather items, such as coats, hats, gloves, shoes and boots - all sizes - Children and adult clothing - all sizes - Gift cards to stores where clothing and personal hygiene supplies can be purchased Any used clothing should be in good condition and suitable for students. With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana.
