Fort Wayne Mayor-elect Tom Henry will speak at Elmhurst High School's annual Fathers & Male Guardians Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Elmhurst. The annual event gives the PTA, staff members and students an opportunity to pay tribute to Elmhurst fathers and male guardians. Parental involvement is a critical component of a student's academic success. Elmhurst takes time each year to recognize the important men in our students' lives. Tom Henry was elected Fort Wayne's next mayor last month and will take office Jan. 1. Friday morning, he will share his thoughts on fatherhood and the family.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
