All Fort Wayne Community Schools will have two registration days in August to get students signed up for the new school year, which begins Aug. 18. Students must register at the school they will attend, even if they attended that school last year. FWCS has set aside two days to register all students: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4 Parents should bring all necessary contact information, and those new to the district should bring vaccination records, birth certificates and Social Security cards for their children as well as proof of residency. Many of the forms parents will need to fill out are available online at Click on the registration icon and then the grade level on the left side of the page. Those forms can be filled out in advance and brought to registration.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
