School will not be in session for Fort Wayne Community Schools on Friday, April 1. As established in the 2010-11 calendar, April 1 is a day off for teachers to make up the extra hours spent working on March 30 and 31 for parent-teacher conferences. Elementary school hours for parent-teacher conferences will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Middle and high school hours will be from 3:30-7 p.m. Schools have also made accommodations for parents who are not available during those hours. FWCS students and staff will also be off April 4-8 for spring break. Classes resume on Monday, April 11.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
