Fort Wayne Community Schools - Deep Learning

At Fort Wayne Community Schools, we educate all students to high standards, enabling them to become productive, responsible citizens. To accomplish this mission, FWCS introduced the Deep Learning Framework in all 50 schools at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year to help our students achieve the highest levels of student success.

Deep learning is defined as, quality learning that sticks with you for life. It maximizes learning and fosters identity and connectedness, teaching students to be good at learning which ultimately leads to being good at life. By promoting the Deep Learning Framework in FWCS schools, our graduates will develop the competencies needed to prepare them to be creative, connected, and collaborative life-long critical thinkers.

As technology continues to develop, our economy is shifting towards a growing demand for a workforce that is able to undertake complex analytic and interpersonal tasks. To prepare students for careers that do not yet exist, we must provide education that embraces a culture of innovation that engages our students in critical thinking, equipping them to solve complex problems. At FWCS, we believe the well-being of the whole child is critical to lifetime success. Not only do we teach high academic standards, our educators incorporate global competencies known as the 6 C’s into their lessons, providing students with the skills they need to be successful. We believe that Character, Citizenship, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity and Critical Thinking all lead to a student who is prepared to face the future needs of our community and world.
