FWCS Board Approves Miami Middle School Principal

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, Aug. 22, approved a new principal for Miami Middle School. Jeff King, Miami Middle School Principal Jeff King has served a number of roles in his nearly four decades in education. He first came to FWCS in 1987 as a teacher and athletic coach. He served as principal at Portage and then Jefferson Middle Schools, retiring in 2019 with 34 years in education. He almost immediately returned as a substitute administrator, serving as an assistant principal at Kekionga Middle School, Wayne High School, Miami Middle School and briefly at Portage. At Miami, he replaces Rena Clemons, who is now assistant principal at Kekionga Middle School.

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
