Brentwood Dedicates New Trail
Brentwood Elementary, 3710 Stafford Drive, will dedicate its new fitness trail with a Crazy Sock Walk at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. Students and staff are invited to wear crazy socks for the occasion.
The ¼-mile trail is located around the perimeter of the school's playground and grassy areas. Parkview Hospital helped the school get started with its plan two years ago by hiring a land planner to map out the vision for the trail. The school then raised more than $20,000 and worked with the City of Fort Wayne to have the trail paved earlier this year.
The celebratory walk in the morning will be followed by additional events in the evening to commemorate the opening of the trail. At 6:30 p.m., school leaders will thank all of the contributors who helped make the trail possible, including Brentwood families and staff, Parkview, former City Council member Karen Goldner, the City of Fort Wayne and the Brentwood Neighborhood Association. The event will include carnival games, pizza and the opportunity to walk or jog on the new fitness trail.
