FWCS Selects Architects & Engineers for Building Projects
The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees hired architects and engineers for eight components of the $119 million building project approved by voters earlier this year.
The architects and engineers were selected through a Request for Proposal process developed by Brailsford & Dunlavey, which is working with FWCS as the Program Manager in the implementation phase. The process included advertising widely for RFPs and making buildings available at scheduled times for firms to study current building conditions.
Proposals were reviewed by the evaluation committee, which included FWCS facilities staff and administrators as well as representatives from Brailsford & Dunlavey. The proposals were evaluated for qualifications, location of key staff in relation to Allen County and price. Interviews were then conducted by the evaluation committee. In all, 15 firms provided proposals.
The FWCS Board approved the following:
- Chillers - MSKTD & Associates, Inc.
- Harrison Hill - MSKTD & Associates, Inc.
- Memorial Park - Design Collaborative, Inc.
- Roofs - Martin Riley Architects/Engineers
- Site - GAI Consultants
- Snider - Primary Engineering, Inc.
- Snider Modular Village - Barton-Coe-Vilamaa Architects-Engineers
- Windows - H2 Design, LLC
The architects and engineers will begin working on design plans to prepare the projects for bid. Work on some buildings will begin by late spring 2013. Earlier this month, the first of the bonds – $7 million – for the project were sold. The bonds will be repaid in 2013 and 2014. Additional financing will be required next summer.
