Career Academy Students to Compete in Regional SkillsUSA

Career Centers from around Northeast Indiana, including the FWCS Career Academy at Anthis, will compete in multiple events in the Regional SkillsUSA Competition on Saturday, Feb. 11. Business partners from the community will help judge the students' performances.

Competitions, times and locations include:

  • Advertising Design; University of Saint Francis, Rolland Art Center, 2701 Spring St.; 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Automotive Collision Repair/Automotive Refinishing/Automotive Repair/Diesel Repair; Ivy Tech Automotive Center, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd.; 8 a.m.-noon
  • Computer Maintenance; Ivy Tech; 8 a.m.-noon
  • Construction Trades: Cabinetry, Carpentry, Electrical, Masonry, Plumbing; FWCS Career Academy-Construction Trades, 125 Murray St.; 8 a.m.-noon
  • Cosmetology; FWCS Career Academy at Anthis, 1200 S. Barr St.; 8 a.m.-noon
  • Culinary Arts; Ivy Tech; 8 a.m.-noon

With nearly 30,000 students, Fort Wayne Community Schools is one of the largest school districts in Indiana. FWCS proudly allows families to choose any of its 50 schools through its successful school-choice program creating diversity in each school, including some with more than 75 languages spoken. FWCS offers seven magnet schools focusing on areas such as science and math, communication, fine arts or Montessori at the elementary and middle school level. In high school, students can choose from the prestigious International Baccalaureate program, Project Lead the Way or New Tech Academy as well as other rigorous academic and specialty training programs.
