Compost Team

The compost team is a spinoff of the fifth grade students’ study of overused and under recycled plastic items in our world.  The students became very conscientious of wasteful habits and decided to start composting after some research with the help of Aiste Manfredini from the Allen County Department of Environmental Management.  They currently are collecting uneaten fruits and vegetables every day from just the fifth grade students and are adding them to a compost bin located outside the STEM lab window.  They hope to produce nutrient rich soil to use in our Community Garden beds located just down the street at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  They cannot wait to skype with and learn some composting tips from a Chicago school that has an established composting program.
