ABOUT SUMMER LEARNING

Fort Wayne Community School Elementary and Middle School students can attend a 6-week fun, high-quality learning program focused on reading and math with games, projects and STEM activities! Your child will soar this summer! 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

WHO: Any FWCS student - Current pre-K through 5th grade

WHEN: June 6-30 (student attendance is expected daily - NO SCHOOL June 20)

TIME: 8:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

WHAT: High-quality programming focused on Reading and Math

WHERE: HOST SCHOOLS listed below are the summer program locations. If your child attends a partner school, please choose the HOST SCHOOL when applying.

LOCATIONS: HOST SCHOOL (Partner school students will attend at HOST SCHOOL)

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

WHO: Any FWCS middle school student

WHEN: June 6-30 (student attendance is expected daily - NO SCHOOL June 20)

TIME: 7:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

WHAT: High-quality programming focused on reading and math

WHERE: HOST SCHOOLS listed below are the summer program locations. If your middle school student attends a partner school, please choose the HOST SCHOOL when applying.

LOCATIONS: HOST SCHOOLS in bold, partner schools in ( )

  • BLACKHAWK (Jefferson, Northwood, Shawnee)
  • KEKIONGA (Portage, Miami)
  • MEMORIAL PARK (Lane, Lakeside, Towles, Virtual Academy)

Please note: Partner Schools will attend the HOST SCHOOL. Memorial Park, Towles and Virtual Academy students will be assigned a location based on their home address.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (Credit Recovery)

WHO: Any FWCS high school student in need of credit recovery

WHEN: June 6-24 (student attendance is expected daily - NO SCHOOL June 20)

TIME: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

WHAT: Credit recovery for students

WHERE: Home High School

HOW: Complete the registration form and return to your guidance counselor no later than May 20

DETAILS:

  • Free breakfast will be served between 7:45am and 8:00am and is to be eaten in the cafeteria.
  • Registration forms will be accepted through May 20, 2022.
  • Students must attend class daily and complete the program successfully in order to earn the course credit.
  • Students can only complete a maximum of three credits during the summer program.
  • Courses will be a blended model utilizing teacher instruction and online learning; pathway courses will be teacher instruction only.
  • Summer Band and Summer Conditioning will take place at the student’s home school and will count as PE II.
